I need sales help!
I recently decided I needed to increase my income and get out of education. I don't want to go back to college. I have plenty of college behind me. My skills at writing and researching are fantastic. However, I've always struggled with the idea of getting other people to buy things. My book, Seizure Free, sells on Amazon because I used keywords in the title. That's great, but I didn't use keywords in the title of my other books and they are failing at selling.
Since the state of Virginia still wants to limit my driving privileges because I'm not medicating and have had seizures in the past, I decided to look into work from home opportunities. I signed up to be a telemarketer with a credit card processing company this week. Ack! The dreaded telemarketer. What I've learned about this is that I can do it. I can get rejected. I can be disciplined and make four hours worth of disappointing phone calls. The other thing that I realized is that I need help when it comes to sales, commitment, and persuasiveness.
After two days, my manager gave me some key areas of improvement. He told me that I was too timid on the phone. Fair enough. I'm leading people to give me an email instead of transferring them to our sales expert. So, great! I have some things to work on! 😀😊 My fear is that I just won't ever catch on and start producing sales.
Terrified that I wouldn't be successful at this venture, I whipped out the Accelerated Sales Success audio that I purchased a few years ago. The thing about Think Right Now's audios is that they work, but you need to commit to listening to them consistently for a few months. I tend to be consistent for a month and then my motivation wanes. I'm still a bit worried that I'm not getting enough people to talk to during my four hour segment.
I got a bit excited about an online program that my friend was selling to help people recruit network marketers for their business. Rather than jumping ship on my telemarketing and spending more money on yet another program, I held off on that. I decided to stick with my telemarketing. If they fire me within 2 weeks for not generating enough leads, I will know that I'm just not a telemarketer. In the meantime, I'm going to learn as much as I can about selling, improve my attitude and learn some new techniques!
I went online this morning and found a book on Amazon that was .99. It teaches you how to make an online website and make sales from it. I've attempted that before and got bored with writing everyday. (Newsflash, I have way too many interests and tend to get bored with one and move on before I truly see success. I plan on breaking this habit with the Think Right Now audio.)
So, this blog is going to keep me on track with my niche content building adventure and sales improvement. I plan on making 4 hours of cold calls for my credit card processing company tonight. I read 25 pages of the affiliate sales book from amazon and signed up to become an amazon affiliate today. I have some research to do before actually starting the website as well as some content creation.
For this blog, I'm just going to see what kind of traffic I can get just by being consistent. I'm not going to worry too much about ranking for blogspot or whether or not I'm getting traffic. I'll share what I learn each day and what kind of progress I am making on my blogging efforts, etc.
